MRI Results
It’s taken me a while to update. I’ve been holding on to Teddy’s results because it all just felt so heavy. Also was during a time that my 14 year old pup wasn’t doing well. Said goodbye to him at the beginning of March. Then Teddy’s ABA therapy hours were cut down. Which not only feels like a loss but changing schedules is going to cut into my leave hours at work. Every single thing has felt heavy. The day to day has felt exhausting at times.
The MRI results posted to mychart while driving back to Longview. Teddy has a chiari malformation. His MRI covered his brain and spine. All other readings of the MRI were considered normal. “Mild cerebellar tonsillar ectopia measuring about 3.5mm.” There’s no established plan at this point. Waiting on appointments with his craniofacial surgeon and neurosurgeon. I’m disappointed with the finding because there’s not a clear path. Most likely I anticipate for his team to tell me to monitor him. It’s not aggressive enough for surgery. At least by my expert research…but yet it still exists. Patience is not my strong suit. I see a “problem” and I want to fix it. I want to do something about it. Not wait without any certainty, with no plan, with no direction. I guess a positive for the MRI was we hit T’s max out of pocket and deductible benefits. 💸
We went to Dallas March 23rd for a super early pre op check in on the 24th. Teddy did great for the MRI. It was the first time the nurses were able to take his vitals and he was very patient waiting to go back. Kinetic sand, Bluey, and his cozy blanket. He knows the hospital. He knows what happens there. When we pulled up he instantly became concerned. I don’t want to say upset but he was definitely not excited to be at Children’s.
Took 3 of us but T took the versed and was calm when the sweetest tech took him back to be prepped for anesthesia. It took a hour, which was a surprise since we were told to anticipate 2 hours. For T to only be sedated for a hour is a win!
